OCTOBER

October 6        First Fridays! Presents Northern Stage! at Whipple Hall, New London 7 PM

The Center for the Arts presents a Northern Stage Preview of their 2017-2018 Season!

Actors will perform snippets of the upcoming productions – including A Doll’s House, a stunning play about New England’s favorite poet Robert Frost, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, a world premiere production about John Lennon and Paul McCartney, a Pulitzer-Prize winning drama about the prejudices Muslim Americans face in our country today, and Noises Off – possibly the funniest comedy ever written!

October 7 and 8      Open Studio Days! 10 to 3PM

Nine recognized regional and local artists will present their work in their own studios all of which are within 5 to 20 minutes drive of New London, New Hampshire.

Exhibiting artists this year are: Maria Blanck, Jean Cronin Connolly, Elizabeth D’Amico, Ludmila Gayvoronsky, Loren Howard, Barbara Hunting, John J Koron, Vicki V Koron, Mary Mead, Davie Tibbetts, Roger Wells, and Lucy Mueller Young.

Free maps, brochures and directions to the open studios will be available at Whipple Hall on Main Street New London as well as at all participating studios, and online at   CenterForTheArtsNH.org This is a wonderful opportunity to meet artists, see how and where they work, discuss their approach to their art and perhaps buy a piece that hits your fancy. October Youth Art and Music Classes at Whipple Hall, New London:

Oct 6 to Nov 17 Fridays 3:15- to 4:15 PM  Dance Discovery with Ashlee Rowley

Grades 2-5 at Whipple Hall. Transportation from KRES included

Come on out for an hour and DANCE! Practice some fun moves & tricks and learn a few combinations to some awesome jams with Ashlee Rowley of Dance Arts Academy in this new Dance Discovery class!

October 12, 19, & 26 10 to 10:45AM-Sing, Dance, Play! Music and Movement with Jill Thompson

ages 2-5 at Whipple Hall, New London

While children sing, listen to music, play, and move to music, they will learn basic music concepts and develop essential music skills such as beat competency, singing on pitch and understanding rhythm. These skills will become the foundation of future music study and a lifelong enjoyment of music. This class will include music-based stories, playing rhythm instruments, exploring the sounds our voices make, singing, dancing, and creative movement activities. As you have fun and bond with your child during class, you will also develop your own music skills and learn ways to bring more music to your home. Experience pure joy as you share music with your child and hear my favorite words: “Again, Again!”

October 14   11 to 12:30 PM   Learn to Draw and Color Mandalas with Amy Fortier

Grades 6-9 at Whipple Hall New London

A relaxing and simple workshop where you will learn how to draw your very own mandala images to color or paint. Amy will walk you through simple steps needed to create a beautiful image and teach you the skills to be able to create mandalas on your own.

The New London Town Green will be filled with local artists, musicians, performers, authors, poets, painters and many more to inspire, educate and motivate youth artists in our area. Rain venue-Whipple Hall
