East Greenwich, RI – Dr. Douglas H. Sherman, Senior Vice President and Provost at New England Institute of Technology, announced that the university is offering two new master’s degree programs as part of its College of Graduate and Professional Studies. Designed for working professionals seeking to advance their careers or recent college graduates, the Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM) www.neit.edu/MSEM focuses on developing the business, financial, process and production knowledge necessary for a leadership role in the engineering management field. The Master of Applied Design (MAD) www.neit.edu/MAD takes a hands-on, “play to learn” approach to the practice of innovation while developing critical thinking skills through design methodologies and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Master of Science in Engineering Management program provides a unique integration of technical and managerial courses designed to bridge the gap between multi disciplinary fields of engineering and business management. This program provides specific knowledge and skills essential for higher level supervisory and management positions. Through a dynamic learning environment including team projects and active case studies, students will develop core competencies in the management of engineering projects and processes, product production and engineering services.
The Master of Applied Design program is designed for promising innovators in any industry that faces challenges by new technologies, automation or evolving consumer preference. It offers students the practical skills and advanced knowledge required to assess and implement breakthrough ideas, create and manage new ventures and develop supportive environments to produce solutions to complex problems. Through innovative online courses and week-long on-campus residencies that occur twice a year, students have the opportunity to stay connected with online tools, methods and social networks.
“As we continue to grow our College of Graduate and Professional Studies, we strive to develop progressive, engaging programs that address the needs of today’s employers seeking professionals with the creativity, high level skills and technical knowledge required for leadership roles,” stated Dr. Sherman. “Our programs are competitively priced among other private, non-profit universities in the region, so students receive a high caliber education at a very competitive cost.”
