MANCHESTER, NH – People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arms of People’s United Bank, today announced that it awarded $172,965 to 23 New Hampshire non-profit organizations in 2017. Funding was distributed state-wide in alignment with the Foundations’ focus areas including: youth development, community and economic development, and affordable housing.

The largest single 2017 Foundation grant of $175,000 was awarded to Junior Achievement USA throughout its six-state footprint, a portion of which will be allocated to Junior Achievement of Northern New England, which serves the state of New Hampshire. These dollars will help fund financial literacy and career readiness programs for New Hampshire students. The award was part of People’s United Bank’s 175th anniversary celebration.
“Community giving has remained at the core of the bank’s culture throughout its 175 year history and we look forward to continuing our community support and expanding our partnerships throughout the communities we serve,” said Karen Galbo, Executive Director of the Foundations.
In total, People’s United Community Foundation and People’s United Community Foundation of Eastern Massachusetts awarded more than $3.5 million in 2017 to more than 500 non-profit organizations across its footprint in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
