NH Fiddle Ensemble Performs at Fundraiser

Franklin Opera House to benefit

Press release

Fiddles! Fiddles! And more fiddles! That’s what you will hear when the New Hampshire Fiddle Ensemble presents its annual fundraising concert at Franklin Opera House on Sunday, April 14.

Led by Ellen Carlson, the Lakes Region’s premier fiddler and fiddle teacher, 35 to 40 musicians of all ages, from seven years old to 80, will gather to present a variety of fiddle tunes in several different musical genres, from traditional Irish to Cajun to Klezmer, Swing, and old-time music.

This is the fifth year that Franklin Opera House has hosted this show, the proceeds from which benefit the program and mission of the Opera House to provide high quality, live entertainment for residents of Franklin and surrounding communities.

This is a relaxing, fun show that showcases the versatility of the fiddle. Whatever style of fiddle music you enjoy, you will hear it presented here.

Curtain time for the New Hampshire Fiddle Ensemble is 2 PM. Tickets are currently on sale by calling Franklin Opera House at 934-1901 or online at FranklinOperaHouse.org.

Vishten

Explore your French-Canadian roots with an evening of fine Acadian music by Vishten, the internationally known trio from Prince Edward Island and Magdalen Islands, on Friday, April 19 at 7:30 PM.

Twin sisters Pastelle and Emanuelle LeBlanc have teamed up with Pascal Miousse to perform exceptional traditional and contemporary music that reflects the heritage of French Canadians everywhere.

They blend their vocal skills with an amazing and versatile instrumental repertoire, from guitar to bodhran, accordion, fiddle, and more.  They stay true to their roots:  The sound is essentially Celtic,  but the songs are in French, sung alone or in three-part harmony, often interspersed with percussive step dancing.

The effect is magnificent as these high energy performers take you along on a ride that has taken them to seven countries on three continents.  Now they come to Franklin Opera House, fresh from a winter tour, first of Australia, but most recently of Italy, Austria, and Switzerland.

Franklin Opera House is located at 316 Central Street, in the City Hall building, in the heart of Franklin. There is ample free parking all around the building. All seating offers unobstructed views of the stage. Franklin Opera House: a great place to see a show!
