The Andover Lions Club met at Naughty Nellie’s on Monday, March 11 wearing as much green as they could in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Lion Dan Coolidge outshined all the others with his green attire, tongue, eyebrows, and blinking shamrocks.
Our speaker for the meeting was Scott Wilson of Hudson Lions Club, who is the President of the New Hampshire Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation. The Foundation’s main purpose is to help those in financial need with hearing aids and eye surgery. They require completion of an in-depth application to find those folks most in need.
We finished up our eye screening of the pre-school children in Andover and Wilmot this week. We used a special camera to take pictures of 53 pairs of eye pupils. We thank the parents and the pre-school employees for their assistance. Hopefully, through this program called Operation KidSight , we can catch potential issues with the children’s eyes before they become a problem.
We manned a booth at the Andover town voting to offer eye screening, information about our club, and an opportunity to order roses. The roses will be delivered on March 22 or 23.
Andover Food Pantry
We are purchasing a new refrigerator for the Andover Food Pantry in order to preserve eggs, summer vegetables, and other donated food items that need refrigeration. It should be in place by the end of March.
We have five new members who will be inducted into the Lions Club on Monday, March 25. We welcome Bill Kennedy from Danbury, Mario Ratzki, Caroline Moulton, and Dan Coolidge from Andover, and Dottie Chagnon from Canterbury. The ceremony will be presided over by our very own past district governor, Bill Leber.
We will be hosting an Open House on Monday, April 22, at 6 PM at Naughty Nellie’s for prospective new members and welcome all interested parties to attend. Delicious refreshments provided by Naughty Nellie’s will be served.
