Andover Congregational Church News June 2018

By Sandra Miller

We have had a busy month!  Our Mother’s Day Plant and Bake Sale held on Saturday, May 12 was very successful.  We realized a profit of over $600 from the sale. Many thanks to Ginny Newton for heading this up.

We recently welcomed to our Church the Rev. John Segasinde who lived through the horrific events that took place in the small African country of Rwanda 1993-94 – the genocide and a death toll of approximately one million within three months.   In the aftermath, Fr. John, an Anglican priest, brought the Gospel and a Ministry of Reconciliation to prisoners and villages of Rwanda. Finally, being forced to flee and seek asylum here in the US, Fr. John continues to share the work. Following the service, he shared a video about the power of forgiveness for both the healing of the victims as well as the offenders. Clear signs of hope and restoration have emerged.  A “love” offering” of $300 was collected to help with this cause.

Once again, our Church is supporting the “Aspire Women’s Center” in Laconia by providing financial help.  This organization provides counseling to women and men with alternatives to abortion at no cost to the client.  We passed out baby bottles on Mother’s Day for people to put their change/bills/checks in, and they are to be returned on Father’s Day.  All monies collected will then be forwarded to “Aspire”.

Our next Flea Market and Bake Sales will once again be held at the Grange Hall on June 30, from 9 to 2 PM.  Flea Markets and Bake Sales will be held the last Saturday of each month through October. Contact Donna Thompson, 744-6858, if you have items to donate.  We continue to raise money for the Grange Hall repairs and restoration, If you would like to donate towards this work, you may do so by sending a check of any amount to the ACC, (memo – GH restoration), PO Box 211, East Andover NH 03231.

You are always welcome at the Andover Congregational Church. A “healing team” is available to pray with you and for you every Sunday after Church service. This team is headed up by Linda Wickstrom (2886-8695).  Feel free to call the Church office (735-5160) to speak with Pastor John Wagner for more information on what’s going on at the Church or if you need help in any way. Our Church service and Sunday School begin at 9:30 AM every Sunday.

Thought for the day: “The heart is happiest when it beats for others.” (Read John 15:13)
