Through the Reading Glasses August 2018

By Janet Moore, Library Trustee

Thank you, one and all, for making the July Fourth Book Sale a really cool event. Although the summer heat actually kept folks from participating in the outside festivities, attendance in the Stone Chapel for books and shortcake was definitely up! Directors Priscilla Poulin and Tina Nussbaum Wagler anchored the resident’s sale on the 3rd, and trustees Caroline Moulton, Susan Chase, Janet Moore, and Mark Cowdrey took care of things on the 4th. Alita Phelps was otherwise occupied (!) but showed up on the 9th with the trustees and Priscilla to assist with the pick up. As always, Anne Park threw in her volunteer muscle, and the local Boy Scouts and their parents performed the thankless task of carting books from the library to the Stone Chapel. Finally, the libraries are grateful once again to Proctor Academy, and to Rachel MacDuffie in particular, for allowing us the use of their facilities.
The libraries will be posting new signs before long-hurray! In the meantime, here’s a reminder of the hours: Andover Library-Monday and Wednesday 6-8 PM, Wednesday and Saturday 9-12 AM, and Thursday 1-5 PM. Bachelder Library: Tuesday 9-12 AM, Tuesday evening 6-8 PM, Thursday and Friday 1-5 PM.
Don’t forget, the little free library at Highland Lake is open every day for reads and trades.
