A hugely successful Old Home Day is behind us, and now we look ahead to other events celebrating the incorporation of our town 250 years ago. On Saturday, September 22, from 1 to 4 PM, we will host Salisbury Day at the Daniel Webster Birthplace on North Road.
Come learn about Salisbury’s most famous son and get a glimpse of 18th century life. Refreshments will be served. If the weather cooperates, feel free to bring a picnic and enjoy it on the lawn. (No alcoholic beverages or pets, please.)
The Birthplace is a 155-acre state park many area residents have never seen. When Webster was born in 1782, his home was in Salisbury. In 1828, it was incorporated as part of the new town of Franklin.
Thanks to all who participated in the Welcome Wagons of Salisbury over the summer. Prizes of Barn Store gift cards were awarded to the top three entrants: Celena and Josh Nixon, first; Amanda and Eric Swendsen, second; and Dora and Dave Rapalyea, third. A collage of all the entrants may be found on the town website, salisburynh.org. Maps of all entrants are available at the Town Office and Library.
Next up in mid-October will be filling and sealing our first ever Time Capsule. We have lots of ideas and are gathering material for the space, which is three feet long and eight inches in diameter. Email any ideas you may have to snhsester250@nullgmail.com.
