Do you live on a lake, pond or river in Andover? You are one of the lucky ones who get to enjoy the beauty of Andover’s water every day. But- you also have a responsibility to protect those waters for those who use it as their drinking water supply and for future generations to enjoy.
To protect water quality, there are state laws, rules and best practices for living near the water. Come learn about these and the steps you can take as property owners to preserve and protect our water-bodies and Andover’s drinking water supply.
Jay Aube, Shoreland Program Outreach Coordinator from the NH Department of environmental Services, will be in Andover on October 6, 2018 to talk about water quality protection in Andover. Also invited are Andover’s Water District Commissioners and Tom O’Brian from NH Lakes.
Place- Town Hall Meeting Room- lower level of the Andover Town Hall.
Time – 4:30 p.m.
Topics to be covered include:
- The NH Shoreland Water Quality Protection Act
- Andover maps showing wetlands and water sheds
- Do’s and don’t for waterfront property owners.
- Creating and maintaining vegetative buffers
- Water testing in Bradley and Highland lakes
- Information from Andover’s Water Commissioners and the NH Lakes Organization
- How to find out if you need a permit or need advice on a water quality practice.
There will be time to ask questions and talk to those presenting. If you would like to submit questions to be addressed at the presentation, please drop them off at the town office.
