Dr. Gail “Bunny” S. McLeod, 73, of Franklin died on March 6, 2013 at the Concord Hospital following a time of declining health.
She was born in Andover on July 27, 1939, the daughter of Jenness Dale and Priscilla S. (Flanders) McLeod. She spent her early years in Wolfeboro, graduated from Brewster Academy, and received degrees from Northeast School of the Bible and New England College. Bunny also lived in Warren and Andover before moving to Henniker about 10 years ago.
She was the co-author of the international bestseller Who Says Kids Can’t Fight Global Warming. Bunny had written many books, including Josephine, Amanda Younger Files, and Probed by Aliens.
As a pastor, she had been very active in The Bible Speaks in South Berwick, Maine and was a local and national member of American Disabled for Attendant Programs Today (ADAPT) and Not Dead Yet.
While in Wolfeboro, Bunny owned and operated a thrift shop, Second Chance Closet. With ventriloquism skills, Bunny enjoyed her dummy friends, Herkimer John Ecklemeir McLeod and Dexter Archibald Angus McLeod.
Members of her family surviving include two brothers, Douglas McLeod of Franklin and Dale McLeod of Andover; two half brothers, Wyman Ordway of Andover and Dennis Ordway of Franklin; an aunt, Phyllis York of Wolfeboro; nieces and nephews; and her friend and Personal Care Attendant, Claire Hinse of Weare.
Funeral services were held on March 10 at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Joseph Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Proctor Cemetery, Andover, in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
