AE/MS Sixth and Seventh Grade Launch Rockets on Vernal Equinox

The 6th and 7th graders were able to launch their rockets on the Vernal Equinox (Wednesday, March 20th). This is when the sun crosses the celestial equator going north and daytime and nighttime are approximately equal everywhere on the planet. It was a bright sunny day with very little wind and the conditions were perfect. Students learned the forces associated with rocketry and built water powered rockets that were pressurized with air. In this photo Wyatt Carleton is celebrating the successful flight of Logan’s Welch’s rocket after it flew over the school. The rocket impacted on the ball field and only sustained minor damage to the nosecone. Photo taken by Haylea Capone
