
In October 2018, a crew from the BBC and PBS converged on Squam Lake for live broadcasts of Autumnwatch New England. The BBC broadcast four live shows with hosts Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan, and Gillian Burke. PBS broadcast three live show hosted by travel journalist Samantha Brown, Chris Packham, and wildlife cinematographer Bob Poole. Autumnwatch highlighted the stunning scenery and unique culture of New England.
All live episode on PBS were available to view in the United States but the four live BBC episodes only aired in the UK. The BBC episodes truly show the magic of the “watch series” which it has produced since 2005.
In this series of viewing parties, view all four BBC episodes featuring spectacular nature footage, award-winning hosts and pre-recorded segments with local wildlife expert Rick Van de Poll and Loon Preservation Committee biologist Tiffany Grade. Executive Director Iain MacLeod, special advisor for the production, will introduce the shows and provide background information and color commentary.
Featuring moose, woodchucks, raptors, bears and more, Autumnwatch New England offers a close look at local wildlife in addition to exploring the history and culture of the region. Time-lapse videos document changes in foliage over time to showcase the colorful autumn landscape in all of its glory.
Episodes 1 through 4 will be shown respectively at the Science Center on Wednesdays, July 17, 24, 31 and August 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. There is no cost to attend. Make your reservation by calling 603-968-7194 x 7.
