Louise Andrus, a strong educational advocate, announced her candidacy for the New Hampshire State House District 1 this afternoon. This district covers the towns of Andover, Danbury, and Salisbury.
Louise grew up in Wilmot and graduated from the former Andover High School located in Andover, New Hampshire. Upon graduating she began working as an Administrative Assistant for the Director of Admissions at Proctor Academy. After leaving Proctor Academy she held various administrative and bookkeeping positions in both the private and government sectors that have given her the experience necessary to be an effective legislator. For many years Louise resided in Andover with her husband and three children until they later relocated to Salisbury, where she and her husband still reside today.
In response to the announcement, Louise Andrus stated,
“Education has always been a passion, and for over the past five years I have dedicated my time to attend school board meetings and have gained an extensive working knowledge of our school systems, budget and financing.
I am a concerned resident of New Hampshire; I love our state and it saddens me to see the direction that the Democrats are moving us in. I believe in lower taxes and more freedom for the citizens of our state.
“We become better by being fiscally responsible and being good stewards of the people’s money and trust. The New Hampshire Advantage is based on keeping taxes low on businesses. We have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. That is no accident.
“I am a strong supporter of the second amendment. As a person with a passion for children, I want to make sure that we keep them safe, I just want to make sure we do it in a responsible fashion. I support the Governor’s desire to improve mental health services in this state. That is a key component in solving a number of the problems we face in our communities.”
Senator Harold French (NH Senate District 7) added,
“New Hampshire is at a critical juncture. We have watched the Democratically led legislature be irresponsible in its passing of an income tax, increasing business taxes, creating a deficit, and limiting gun rights. We need leaders like Louise who will support the Governor and help pass legislation that is more in touch with the views of the citizens of Andover, Danbury, and Salisbury.”
