This year the Wilmot Community Association (WCA) awarded Kay White Memorial Scholarships to three Wilmot students: Josiah Gove, Carla Hoyt, and Russell Mellot. All three graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School in June. Throughout high school, they were all regular volunteers at the WCA. From serving pancakes to raking leaves at Timmy Patten Park, they have been welcome additions to the WCA’s volunteer roster.

Josiah will study electrical technology at Manchester Community College while working as an apprentice. His goal is to become a licensed electrician. Carla will be studying cosmetology at the Empire Beauty School in Laconia. She is planning a career as a stylist, hairdresser and barber. Long term, she looks forward to owning her own salon. Russell will be attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia in the fall. He plans to major in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on history, economics and political science.

Throughout the year the WCA provides a variety of programs and events for children, adults and seniors. Founded in 1963, the not-for-profit organization owns and operates the Red Barn, a community center on Village Road, and Timmy Patten Park, a beach and playground on Shindagan Road. For more information visit the WCA website at www.WilmotWCA.org and stay up to date with WCA activities and events on Facebook.
