Command Master Chief Petty Officer Brad Dickey, seven Chief Petty Officers, and eleven Chief Selectees, all crew members of the USS Kearsarge LHD-3, made their annual pilgrimage to Warner over Labor Day weekend. As part of their training, each selectee class visits the town to learn more about their ship’s heritage. In addition to climbing Mt. Kearsarge and visiting the museums and shops in town, the group also performed a community service project. This year they assisted the Warner Parks & Recreation Department in prepping the town’s baseball field. A group of townspeople organized a community dinner, an American Legion BBQ, and other activities while they were here.
