Christmas comes early to the Fells Each Year and planning is well underway for this year’s Christmas at The Fells, which features a Decorators’ holiday showhouse.

Come view how professional interior designers, floral artists, decorators and talented volunteers use their personal sense of style and interpretation of Christmas cheer, to transform the gorgeous John Hay historic estate in Newbury into a one-of-a-kind holiday showhouse. Get inspired viewing the best of holiday decorating.

The main house is open to the public from Saturday, November 2 through Sunday, November 10, Weekdays from 1 to 3 PM; and Weekends from 10 to 3 PM. Tickets are $25 for Adults and $8 for children (under 5 are free). Tickets may be purchased at the door or online. Purchase your ticket online before October 28 and save $5 per adult.

The John Hay Estate was the summer home of diplomat and statesman John Milton Hay and is one of New England’s finest early 20th-Century summer estates. Visitors are welcome all year long, but the main house is only open from May through October. However, November brings this wonderful fundraising event, where these historic rooms are decorated to inspire and amaze visitors.

The 2019 Showhouse promises to be outstanding and includes the following decorators and designers: 3 on Main Mercantile, Contoocook; Darlene Behrens, Sunapee; Candita Clayton Gallery, Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Colby Sawyer College: Department of Performing Arts, New London; Company C, Concord; Meghan Collins, Bedford; Forest, Cone & Evergreen, Wilmot; Kathan Gardens, Newport; Liz Hause Interior Design, New London; Melissa’s Mess Management, Sudbury, Massachusetts; MEM Home Staging, Newbury; Mount Sunapee Resort, Newbury; Pellettieri Associates, Warner; Stoneridge Staging, Bradford, Studio Sage Interiors, New London, and The Fells Decorating Committee, Newbury.

On weekends, tour-goers can relax and enjoy a scrumptious lunch in the beautiful Dining Room Café. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door. Also open to our guests is the Holiday Gift Boutique, where we have assembled the finest regional artisans for an unparalleled shopping experience. The boutique is open when the main house is open for touring, and offers a great place to start your holiday shopping early.

Additional Christmas at The Fells events include: The Preview Gala on Friday, November 1, 5 to 7 PM. Enjoy holiday cheer, music, and appetizers. Mingle with Showhouse Designers and be the first to shop the boutique. Reservations are required. $100 per person includes one return ticket per person to tour the house during the day.

Ladies Night, Wednesday, November 6, 5:30 to 7:30 PM. This fun pre-holiday season event is a wonderful way to connect with your friends before the holidays kick into gear. Enjoy elegant pairings and tastings, wine bar and hors d’oeuvres, door prizes, and the best boutique shopping you can find anywhere. $55 per person. Reservations strongly encouraged as this popular event often sells out.

Sip and Shop: Friday, November 8 from 4 to 7 PM sneak into the Holiday Boutique after hours for a special shopping-only event. Relax and sip a glass of wine and enjoy goodies while shopping for fantastic deals with 25 percent off select Fells items.
