An opportunity to learn the benefits and costs of home weatherization will be offered by Kearsarge Climate Action in the Grantham Town Building at 2 PM on Saturday, February 8, as part of an initiative to help residents throughout the Mount Kearsarge-Lake Sunapee region save money and stay warmer during New Hampshire winters. The Town Building is located at 300 State Route 10 South in Grantham.
Part of a multi-town effort known as Weatherize Kearsarge, the presentation is free and open to the public. Kearsarge Climate Action is a consortium of several local energy committees, including the Andover Energy Group. Content of the presentation, and of the wider Weatherize Kearsarge campaign, is being provided by the Upper Valley-based non-profit Vital Communities.
Weatherization involves making physical home improvements — such as insulation and air-sealing — to reduce energy costs, improve comfort, and resolve issues such as ice dams, moisture, mold, cold spots, and drafts. Most recommended improvements will be in basements and attics.
NHSaves, a consortium of New Hampshire electrical utilities, is offering rebates that may cover up to 50% of recommended weatherization improvements, up to $4,000 (eligibility based on fuel use per square foot).
