Danbury Grange Presents Home Gardening Program

Plus roast pork dinner on May 18

Press release

Step up to the plate and join the movement toward sustainability in your community by attending the first of four Living Sustainably programs at the Danbury Grange.

On Saturday, May 18 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM in conjunction with the annual roast pork dinner, Gardening for Home Food Production will inform diners and visitors about building a healthy garden, including pest management, irrigation, water catchment, worm farming, composting, and hoop houses.

Local community farmers and gardeners will answer your questions and provide information on how to make your garden the best ever this year using sustainable and organic methods.

Jennifer Larochelle of Danbury Elementary School will showcase the new garden that elementary students are creating, and Danbury winter market vendors Suzanne and Ray LeBlanc of Autumn Harvest Farm will give expert advice for establishing and maintaining home gardens.

Home Depot in Tilton has loaned sample parts of what is needed for an irrigation and water catchment project, and Bill Woodger will be on hand to get you started on your own worm farm.

The Grange hall opens at 4:30, with dinner beginning at 5 PM. The presentation runs continuously from 4:30 until 6:30. You do not have to attend the dinner to enjoy the presentations!

Come and be informed and, if you are enticed by the aromas coming from the Grange kitchen, stay and have a great home cooked pork dinner too!

Danbury Grange Hall is on North Road, just at the junction of routes 104 and 4. For more information, contact Phyllis at 744-2332.
