In what could become an Andover tradition, it’s time for local businesses and organizations to get creative and decorate their places of business with an outdoor scarecrow — serious or funny, large or small, relating to their business or just for fun, anything goes!

The Andover Community Hub is joining with Andover resident Janet Moore, who has shepherded this project the last two years, in order to lend some support and help spread the word to make the scarecrow project perhaps bigger and better than ever. The hope is that all Andover businesses will decorate their storefronts and office fronts for the month of October. Those businesses that are home-based or located off the beaten track of Main Street and Routes 4 and 11 can have the option of putting their scarecrows — with the names of their businesses — along the front edge of the Andover Town Green.

During the next week, businesses will be contacted and encouraged to think creatively about what their scarecrows might look like. Residents can also join in the spirit and erect a scarecrow in their front yard as well. For more information, or with questions, contact Janet Moore at jmpcilley@nulltds.net, or The Andover Hub at TheAndoverHub@nullgmail.com.
