Andover Post Office No Longer Recommended for Absentee Ballots

New: Mail dropped in Andover now goes via Manchester

By Lee Wells

There has been a significant recent change concerning the best way to submit your absentee ballot.

The Post Office has recently announced that all local Andover mail dropped off at the Andover Post Office will be sent to Manchester to be time and date stamped before being returned to Andover for delivery.

If you haven’t already mailed your absentee ballot, you should consider:
  – handing it directly to our Town Clerk or Deputy Town Clerk during regular hours.
  – handing it in at the Drive-Through Absentee Voting days on October 24 and October 31.
  – handing it in on Election Day at the curbside voting station, or inside at the polling station.

Drive-Through Absentee Voting

There will be Drive-Through Absentee Voting in Andover on Saturday, October 24, and Saturday October 31, from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Town Hall.  You must bring an ID with you.

There will be three stations: the first is outside the Library where you will pick up your absentee application; the second is in front of the school, where you will receive your ballot; and the third is outside the Town Hall where you will pass in your ballot.

Voting on Election Day

The polls for the election on Tuesday, November 3 will be at the AE/MS gym, and voting will take place from 8 AM to 7 PM.

Masks are required in the main polling area.  Those who cannot wear a mask or choose not to wear a mask should drive or walk around the school to the back of the gym, where there will be a mask-free voting area.

If you would like to vote on Election Day, but would prefer not to enter the gym to vote, you may vote curbside. Please drive to the tent at the northwest corner of the school (near the Thrift Shop) and a greeter will help you get started.

How to Register to Vote

Until Wednesday, October 28, you can register at the Town Hall during the Town Clerk’s regular hours. After that, you may register on Election Day at the polling place.  Be sure to bring proof of age, citizenship, and domicile with you.

The Andover Town Clerk’s hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 AM to 2 PM, and Tuesday evening from 1:30 to 6:30 PM. The Town Clerk’s Office will also be open until 5 PM on Monday, November 2.  Her phone is 735-5018.
