Lila loved being outdoors.  In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing and often got up early to cast a line from the culvert at Highland Lake or the bridge at Mountain Brook.  On many weekends throughout her life, she spent time with family at the Ford Mill, walking the boundary lines and cutting back the bushes.  She always enjoyed a mill hotdog.  She loved the Ford Mill.

Lila had many interests.  She enjoyed writing.  She liked to build or repair things and was adept at using a hammer and saw.  She found entertainment in mischievous grandkids and pets.  Louie, the long-haired yellow cat, gave her much peace and comfort at the end of her life.

Lila liked sports.  In her youth, she was an outstanding basketball player.  She scored 236 points for her team at Andover High School in her senior year and continued to enjoy the game throughout her life, especially women’s college basketball.
