On Thursday, May 2 at 7 PM at the Society’s Webster Place building, (21 Holy Cross Road — directions available on our Web site, FranklinNHHistoricalSociety.org) Dan Darling will present Getting Personal With History. Dan is a Certified Legacy Advisor and a member of the International Association of Storykeepers and Association of Personal Historians. As such, he advocates saving the living history of the 20th century by capturing and preserving the stories of those who lived it so they can be retold to future generations “in the first person”. He is an experienced producer of documentary videos and the owner of Heartstring Video Production. Dan also nourishes his hunger for the history of people and places as a guide at Canterbury Shaker Village. He and his wife Karen are recent transplants from Michigan and have quickly become contributing members of the Franklin community.

How many times have we heard a relative say how he or she had wished that they had recorded Great Uncle George’s recollections of working on the B&M Railroad during World War II, or Grandmother’s stories of growing up in rural New England and attending her first classes in a one room school house. If you ever wanted to know how to capture those treasured stories from your family members that otherwise might be lost forever, this presentation will prove to be invaluable. Instead of looking back with regret, you could have something to pass on to your children and their children.

There will be light refreshments and all are welcome. The Society’s normal business meeting will follow and all attendees are encouraged to stay and participate.
