Sarah Louise Clark – May 21, 2021

Lou was born on June 2, 1933, in Waukegan, Illinois, the daughter of Margaret and
Harold Smith, in a family of five children. She spent most of her childhood in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, in Stamford, Connecticut, and attended St. Joseph College in West Hartford, Connecticut, where she was voted class president for the upcoming Sophomore year.

In 1954 she married Frank, the love of her life, and raised a family of four, moving to many places around the country as Frank’s career progressed. Wherever they went, Lou always made their new house feel like home right away.

After retirement, Lou and Frank lived in Southern California, making wonderful memories there. They moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1997, joining Lakehouse West in 2015, and were quickly welcomed into the community as family. In 2019 they joined their daughter Lynn and family in Colorado.

Lou was a lifetime Catholic who shared her deep faith in the way she lived and the way she raised her children. She was an accomplished pianist and dancer. She made close friends everywhere she lived and kept in close touch with them. Over the years, Lou loved playing tennis with the Ladies, where she made dear friendships. After moving to Florida, she became an avid golfer to spend more time with Frank. She loved playing cards with her family and friends, especially vying for the “medal” during the Friday night Liverpool games. With much love she knitted beautiful blankets for everyone in her family, which they cherish as precious keepsakes. Family meant everything to Lou, and she talked to her family daily by phone. They are the beneficiaries of a rich legacy of love and laughter.

Surviving family members include Frank M. Clark II, her husband of over 66 years; her daughters, Diane Clark of Osprey, Florida; Nancy Vogel and husband Chip of Durango, Colorado; Lynn Scott of Superior, Colorado and husband Kevin of Boulder, Colorado; daughter-in-law Trish Clark and partner Sean Ermark of Stamford, Connecticut; and son-in-law Jay Creeden of Broomfield, Colorado; five grandchildren, Brett Summers and wife Jackie of Durango, Colorado; Megan Creeden of Boulder, Colorado; Emma Vogel of Durango, Colorado; Danielle Lamanna and husband Paolo of McKinney, Texas; and Matthew Clark and wife Cassandra of Oviedo, Florida; four great-grandchildren, Maeve and Liam Summers and Francesco and Domenico Lamanna.
