LRPC Organizes Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days

The Lakes Region Planning Commission has again organized two Household Hazardous Waste Collections days for 21 communities, including Andover. Residents and taxpayers can bring up to 10 gallons or 50 pounds of household hazardous waste to one of the regional collection sites at no charge.

COVID-19 precautions will be in place on collection days. Attendees must stay in their vehicles and follow local mask mandates.

What to Bring

Household items accepted include art supplies, cleaning fluids, roofing tar, and unbroken fluorescent bulbs. From the garage: car wax or polish, antifreeze, gasoline, diesel fuel, and carburetor cleaners. But avoid bringing fuel in containers you want back.

Yard and garden materials accepted include herbicides, weed killer, and pesticides; pool chemicals; and coal-tar-based driveway sealer. From the workbench, bring paint stripper, oil-based paint, stains, varnishes, and spray paint.

Do not bring any latex paint, tires, electronics, ammunition, fireworks, radioactive materials, asbestos, or propane tanks.

On Saturday, July 31, from 8:30 AM to noon, you can bring your household hazardous waste to:

Belmont Fire Station, 14 Gilmanton Road
Franklin DPW Garage, 43 West Bow Street
Gilford DPW Garage, 55 Cherry Valley Road
Meredith DPW Garage, 17 Jenness Hill Road

On Saturday, August 7, from 8:30 AM to noon, you can bring your household hazardous waste to:

Bristol’s Newfound Regional School, 150 Newfound Road
Laconia DPW Garage, 27 Bisson Avenue
Moultonborough Highway Garage, 68 Highway Garage Road
Ossipee Highway Garage, 55 Main Street
