Alice G. Johnson, formerly of Boscawen, died peacefully at her home in Hillsville, Virginia on July 25, 2021.
Alice graduated from Keene State College in 1943 and married Robert L. Johnson on June 26, 1943. After World War II Bob and Alice moved to Concord and later lived in Boscawen for 47 years.
Beginning in 1965, Alice taught second grade at Main Street School in Boscawen and at Dame School in Concord until she retired in 1985. The Johnson family spent many summer vacations at Highland Lake in Andover. Bob and Alice also had a winter home in Naples, Florida and traveled extensively in their RV.
Alice is survived by four children: Robert L. Johnson Jr. (Lillian), Susan J. Fansmith (John), Sharon J. Confessore (Gary), and Jeffrey T. Johnson (Sharon); five grandchildren: Alicia Fansmith, Jonathan Fansmith (Danielle), Aby Bethem (Blake), Katie Nagle (Tim), and Adam Johnson; and seven great-grandchildren: Lila and Jane Gosselin Fansmith; Jake, Parker and Finn Bethem; and William and Helen Nagle. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of nearly 70 years and by her son Eric S. Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on July 31 at St. Joseph Church in Woodlawn, Virginia. Burial was at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen in August. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Carroll County Public Library, PO Box 1629, Hillsville VA 24343.
