Before a fascinated audience of about 40, including many children, Andover author Amy Makechnie reads from her new novel Ten Thousand Tries, aimed at middle-grade readers, as part of an hour-long conversation that also included answers to numerous audience questions, a book-signing, and plentiful refreshments.  The August 16 event, sponsored by the Andover Public Libraries and The Andover Community Hub, was held in Stone Chapel at Proctor Academy, where Makechnie teaches in the science department.
As described by Amazon.com, “Ten Thousand Tries will make you laugh and cry … and ultimately remind you that the love of your family and friends can help you get through even your most difficult days.” Photo: Larry Chase
