Kearsarge Neighborhood Partners (KNP) and Kearsarge Regional Ecumenical Ministries (KREM) have joined forces on a much-needed new venture to help folks in our community access transportation. The partnership, Kars for Kearsarge: Paving the Road to Independence, has three goals:

Locating used vehicles that can be gifted from community members to neighbors in need.

Where necessary, financially helping people buy or repair reliable, affordable vehicles.

Partnering with local garages to help people evaluate the wisdom of purchasing a used vehicle or repairing an existing vehicle

The need for affordable, dependable transportation continues as one of our region’s biggest challenges.  Lack of public transportation or access to a reliable vehicle severely limits housing and work options in our area.  

A car can mean all the difference in someone’s ability to work or to seek a job.  Many people are unable to go to doctor appointments or medical treatments or obtain food and other necessities.

KNP and KREM have created a set of guidelines to determine which candidates and which cars will qualify for inclusion in the program.  Those in need of transportation are paired with an advocate who will guide them through a process of budgeting and eligibility, so that each applicant can be evaluated for accessing an affordable vehicle or repairing their existing car through a local garage.

The Andover community is invited to join KNP and KREM in this new transportation initiative to help those in need of transportation.

Does anyone have, or know someone who has, an unused functional car or truck? Please email Info@nullKNPnh.org for more information on how that vehicle might be transferred or sold at a very significant discount to a neighbor in need. 

Designated donations can help people in need obtain or repair a used car.  Online donations can be made on the KNP website at KNPnh.org.  A check made out to KNP with “Kars for Kearsarge” in the memo line can be mailed to PO Box 1442, New London NH 03257.
