VNA’s Hospice Program Founder Makes Special Art Donation

Loa and Steve Winter moved to New Hampshire from California in the late 1970s and were instrumental in the introduction of hospice care to Lake Sunapee VNA and the region. As we celebrate National Hospice Month and the impactful hospice care provided by Lake Sunapee VNA over so many years, it’s an especially meaningful time for Loa Winter to have donated her artist’s rendering of Florence Nightingale. 

Over the years, Loa, a well-known and prolific local artist, has created a number of what are known as “Dummy Boards/Silent Companions” depicting a variety of historic figures. “I was inspired to paint Florence in honor of her good work, my mother (who was a nurse), and all the spirits of strong, smart, caring women who have gone before us and continue to work as nurses and caregivers,” shared Loa. 

Florence has found a perfect new home at Lake Sunapee Region VNA and Hospice!

Loa Winter’s art is currently featured at the Tatewell Gallery in New London with a Meet the Artist reception on Friday, November 19, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. All are invited.
