Christine Beckman Leavitt – January 20, 2022

Christine Beckman Leavitt died unexpectedly on January 20, 2022, at her apartment in Andover. She was 53 years old.

Christine was born to Brenda and James Beckman of Carlisle, Massachusetts. Growing up in Carlisle, and also Sunapee in the summer, Christine was always a free spirit who collected many friends and animals along the way.

Christine graduated from Concord Carlisle High School where she received a Varsity Letter in skiing, and then she went on to attend Plymouth State College in New Hampshire.

After college, Christine moved to northern New Hampshire for a few years, where she adopted the first of many dogs, this one a Golden Lab named Nugget. Christine was very pleased that the dog shared her love of riding on Harley Davidsons. With the added responsibility of Nugget, Christine found the value in work and settled back down in Claremont, where she worked at her father’s company in Newport.

It was at that time that Christine completed her life-long dream of owning a Harley! The fact that she sometimes had to use a screwdriver to start it never took away from the joy of achieving her dream. It was during that time, she met her husband-to-be, John Leavitt. After a quiet marriage in Sunapee, Christine and John settled in Unity, New Hampshire.

Christine and John would go on long weekend rides with many friends. During the winter, they would host epic sledding and skating parties at their house and go snowmobiling. There were always plenty of friends and dogs in attendance.

The house in Unity was always open for anyone who happened by on a motorcycle or snowmobile. There were also the annual trips to Martha’s Vineyard, which always started and ended at The Lookout in Oak Bluffs.

Christine suffered from two brain aneurysms, one in 2003 and the second in 2017. Each event resulted in many months spent at Dartmouth Hitchcock, where she received great care from the amazing doctors and nurses there. Christine fought through the adversity and challenges that come with brain injuries.

Christine leaves behind her brother Scott, his wife Rebecca, her niece Libby, and her nephew Chase, who will always adore and miss their “Aunt Kiki.” She also leaves behind her ex-husband, John Leavitt, and the entire Leavitt family, who she loved deeply and who were always there to look out for her.

There will be a Celebration of Life on February 19 from 4 to 6 PM at Salt Hill Pub’s new building in Newport at 11 Central Street. Friends of Christine are welcome to stop by and share their memories.
