Andover Energy Group Shows “Wasted! The Story of Food Waste”

Monday, May 23, at 7 PM

Press release

The Andover Energy Group will host a showing of the film “Wasted! The Story of Food Waste” on Monday, May 23, at 7 PM at the Andover Community Hub. The 2017 documentary, featuring Anthony Bourdain and other celebrity chefs, highlights the surprising statistics that 40% of food produced for human consumption in the US goes to waste; the cost of such waste adds up to $1 trillion annually; and there is still a national hunger problem, despite all the food that ends up in a landfill.

The film recognizes that problems exist all along the food chain, from production, to distribution, to storage, to consumption, to disposal.  It focuses on steps that some individuals, organizations, and businesses are taking to make the system less wasteful.

The film showing is open to the community at no charge, and attendees are welcome to join a discussion of changes that can help to create a more secure and sustainable food system, both locally and nationally.
