CFA Invites Students to Apply Online for Arts Scholarships

CFA Arts Scholarships are now available for summer enrichment and college programs!

The Center for the Arts invites students in grades 7 – 11 and High School Seniors entering college to apply online now. Deadline is June 1.

Thanks to the generosity of our members and the community, the Center for the Arts awards scholarships each year to student artists, musicians, writers, dancers, and theater majors, for both summer enrichment programs and college level studies. The Center for the Arts has awarded over $30,000 to students in the Lake Sunapee Region with a dream of pursuing their education in Art, Music,Theater, Dance, and Literature.

Eligible students must:
• Reside in one of the 12 towns in the Lake Sunapee Region: Andover, Bradford, Danbury, Grantham, New London, Newbury, Newport, Springfield, Sunapee, Sutton, Warner, or Wilmot.
• Be enrolled in public or private school, or home schooled.
• Submit a completed application for a scholarship to fund arts-based enrichment education.
• Agree to share their talent with the community.

CFA Scholarships have helped to fund local students participating in prestigious programs at home and around the world, including Joffrey Ballet in New York City, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Kinhaven Music Intensive, the Rockettes, the Greece Screenwriters Lab, the New London Barn Playhouse, and the Kearsarge Conservatory for the Performing Arts. High School seniors have gone on to pursue their arts studies at Dartmouth, Smith, Colby-Sawyer, Hart School of Music, and the Chicago Art institute, just to name a few.

Last year’s Scholarship winners were: Matt Gallagher, from Newport, was awarded the Gusta Morgan Teach Scholarship, for Leadership in the Arts. Matt has been attending Dartmouth College; Bailey Carmody, from Warner, was awarded the Madge Rizza Scholarship for Performing Arts. Bailey has been attending Plymouth State University this year; Anya Moorehouse, from Sunapee, and Sydney Laurendeau from Bradford, received scholarships to attend the Dance Education Program provided by the Dance Teachers’ Club of Boston and the American Society of the Teachers of Dancing, located in Nashua; Katie Renner and Annalise Renner from Newport, a Junior at Newport High School, both received scholarships to attend RB Productions Summer Theater Program at the Concord Center for the Arts in Concord.

The CFA believes the arts are essential and strives to support our youth as they pursue their dreams. “We are proud of these talented students and are delighted to help them on their journey,”  – Scholarship Chair Sue Elliott.

Applications must be made online at centerfortheartsnh.org/scholarships.  The deadline to apply is June 1.
