Walter L. Locke Jr., 86, a lifelong resident of Andover, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Friday, May 27, 2022. Walter was born in Dover on December 21, 1935, the son of Walter L. Sr. and Arleen (Rollins) Locke.

Walter graduated from high school and earned his degree from New Hampshire Technical Center in Manchester as part of their sheet metal program. He proudly served his country with the US Army from 1958 through 1960 on active duty stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia and in Korea, followed by reserves.

He was the owner of the oldest junk yard in Andover, Andover Auto Wrecking. He also worked for 15 years at Raytheon in Andover, Massachusetts. In 1954, when he was only 16, he drove the Legionnaire around the lake and the Kiddie Train as a summer job out of Alton Bay.

Walter had many loves in his life, which included his cats, racing cars, collecting antique bicycles, hot rods, yard sales, and swap meets.

He was predeceased by his parents; his third wife, Lorraine (Martin) Locke (2012); his first wife, Lauretta (Prince) Locke (1965); and his brother-in-law, Richard Martin (2021).

His family includes his son, Toby Locke; his daughter, Sara-Lee Locke-Caligiuri; his son, James Locke; his grandchildren, Christopher Cloutier, Charlie Cloutier, Lilly Locke, and Anastasia Locke; and his great-grandchildren, Grayson, Neely, Jameson, and Wyatt Cloutier. 

He is also survived by his stepchildren, Carol Silva, Bobby Martin, Judy LaClair, and Donna Wilhelm; his sister, Jane Martin; and two nieces, Debbie Martin and Jackie Adams.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, June 28, from 4 to 7 PM at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Tilton. Burial will be held at a later date for the family at Lovell Lake Cemetery in Sanbornville.
