My name is Scott Maltzie, and I am running for Merrimack County’s Register of Probate. This position affects everyone. It provides essential services to our citizens in assisting them when a loved one passes.
Even though the position is in our state’s constitution, in 2011 the legislature stripped it of its essential duties, which were passed to court clerks, and lowered it to simply filing historical documents. This leaves a large gap in services that help those in need to navigate the process at a time of grief that may be the most difficult in their lives. Now they want to kill the position altogether with a Constitutional Amendment on the ballot this November.
Therefore, I’m asking you to vote for me and to vote against the Amendment. I feel uniquely qualified to lead in this role as I have served for the past four and a half years as Chairman of the Merrimack County GOP. I have had the opportunity to build relationships with our legislative delegation which will help pass legislation to restore this position.
If elected, not only will I work to do that, but I will also use it as a platform to promote estate planning and financial management in order to help our citizens retire with dignity and lessen the burden on loved ones after they pass.
Please vote for Scott Maltzie for the Register of Probate, and vote “No” on Amendment 1.
