I am Lorna Carlisle, and I am running for one of the two positions for District 5 (Andover, Danbury, Hill, Salisbury, and Webster). I was in sales my entire career. My skills at negotiating, listening, innovating, etc. will be essential for work as a State Representative. (I retired in 2021.)
This is a critical time for our democracy. It is imperative that people vote to have their voices heard. Let’s make voting more efficient and user-friendly.
Local politics can affect our lives in so many ways. I’m very concerned about supporting our public schools and teachers. Books should not be banned. We should encourage our children to read as much as possible so that they hopefully become life-long readers and learners.
Science should be trusted. Schools should expand offerings not limit them. This is a changing world, and our students need to expand their understanding of the world.
We should also enshrine a woman’s right to self-determination on her healthcare and on when to start a family and allow her and her doctor to make decisions without government interference. I believe we should respect everyone’s rights – especially the LGBTQIA+ community.
As a full-time farmer, I see the direct implications of climate change: droughts, erratic weather patterns, and higher temperatures for longer periods of time.
