The husband-and-wife duo Green Heron will be performing live at the Friday, November 18, Andover Community Coffeehouse. The concert will begin at 7 PM in the Highland Lake Grange Hall at the corner of Route 11 and Chase Hill Road in East Andover.
The music of Green Heron stretches across the entire folk landscape: old-time, folk, bluegrass, country, Irish, and blues are all represented as the band brings the back porch to the stage. Featuring Betsy Heron (formerly Green) on fiddle, banjo, and vocals, and Scott Heron on guitar, banjo, and vocals, the duo has been sharing New England stages together since 2016.
Sponsor of the concert is Jay Fitzpatrick, local photographer and Coffeehouse supporter. Doors open at 6 PM for simple supper food and beverage purchases and for up to five local musicians to sign up on a first-come, first-served basis for “Open Mic” opportunities to play a song or two during the show.
New Hampshire Magazine wrote: “If there was ever a recipe for treating the ‘pandemic blues,’ it’s listening to the music of Green Heron” when it featured Green Heron among the “Editor’s Choice” picks for its “Best of 2020” issue.
The concert is free of charge, although the Coffeehouse Committee “passes the hat” and welcomes generous contributions to be shared with the featured performers.
