Class at Hub Teaches Mindfulness and Meditation

Tuesday, February 21, 10 to 11 AM; free of charge

By Susan Chase

Andover-area residents interested in learning about the concepts of mindfulness and meditation are invited to an introductory class to be held on Tuesday, February 21, from 10 to 11 AM at the Andover Community Hub.  This session, offered free of charge and led by Libby Curtis Webb from Bradford, will shed light on these ancient practices, share recent research that shows them to be useful in cleaning away mental clutter and washing away tension, and demonstrate techniques for acquiring inner calm.

For those who would like more instruction, practice, and reflection, Webb, a certified Meditation Teacher and Mindful Outdoor Guide, will also offer a six-week class on Tuesdays, March 7 through April 11, from 10 to 11 AM.  This all-level class will incorporate gentle breathing and relaxation, feel-good stretching, and guided meditation.  Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat and small blanket (or borrow these from the Hub’s supply) and a journal to class.  The fee for the six-week class is $130, payable to the Andover Community Hub.
