Shawn M. Croteau, 59, passed away unexpectedly on January 16, 2023 at his home in Newbury, New Hampshire.

He was the son of John G. Croteau and Rosemary K. Croteau and grew up in Newbury. Shawn graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School in North Sutton in 1981. During his school years he worked at the general store in Newbury, played basketball, and ran track.

After graduation he was employed by Flash Photo in New London and took night classes at Plymouth State College. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Health and Physical Education. 

He had been coaching for over 30 years and most recently taught physical education and health at the Merrimack School District and was coaching the girls track team. He liked to play pick-up basketball and was an avid golfer.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his two sisters, Heather C. Goley and her husband Jeffery of Manchester and Bridgette C. Severance and her husband Todd of Newbury; three nephews, Ben Ebbs and his wife Angie of Weare, Tyler Ebbs of Henniker, and Brandon Severance of Newbury; and one niece, Nina Sweeney of Andover; and one grandniece, Paisley Workman.

Shawn will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, on Friday, January 27, from 4 to 6 PM. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Newbury, at the convenience of the family.
