Proctor Academy’s Nordic Ski team hosted the Lakes Region Championships on February 15 at the Proctor Ski Area. Before a packed crowd at the Bill Paine ‘51 Nordic Center, Proctor’s skiers took on competition from around the Lakes Region and as far away as Northfield Mount Hermon (MA) and Belmont Hill School (MA). In a classic/skate individual transition race, skiers raced a 2.5 km loop in the classic style followed by a quick transition to skate ski gear and another 2.5 km loop skating.

In the first race of the day, Proctor’s girls placed incredibly well and earned a second-place finish on the day, securing 2nd place in the Lakes Region on the season, an incredible accomplishment given the caliber of skiers. In the second race of the day, Proctor’s boys earned four of the top 15 spots and secured the Lakes Region Championship for the first time in eleven years. Both teams were led by local students, including Andover’s Braeden MacKenzie ‘24, Phoenix Verite ’23, Annika Green ‘25, Jason Koziol ‘24, and Caleb Warzocha ‘23. Both teams went on to compete at the New England Championships on February 25.
