Adrianne M. (Gray) Lauridsen

Adrianne M. (Gray) Lauridsen died on March 16, 2023. She was born in Pepperell, Massachusetts on July 29,1925, the daughter of Harold F. and Mary A. (Scharff) Gray.  She graduated from Milford, Connecticut High School in 1943, Booth and Bayliss Secretarial School in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1945 and came to New London in that year.

Ade was certified by the Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance in 1962.  She was a Dorm Parent at Proctor Academy  from 1946 to 1952.  She was a ski instructor and owner/office manager of Laurids Lauridsen Ski School at King Ridge Ski Area from 1962-1980.  An excellent skier, she had been a ski instructor for Colby Junior College and Colby-Sawyer College.

She had been an antiques and art dealer since 1946.  Ade was a member of The First Baptist Church of New London and a former Deacon and member of the Baptist Women’s Fellowship.  She was a member of the Profile Automobile League and the New London Woman’s Club.  She was a member of the New London Historical Society where she enjoyed and taught health cooking and was chairman of the Acquisitions and Purchasing Committee.  Ade was a member of the Soo-nipi Quilters Guild, the Farm Mountain Spinners, New Hampshire Spinners and Dyers, the New Hampshire Weavers Guild, the New London Historical Committee and the Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance. She received the Profile Automobile League President’s Cup in 1967. In 2017, she received the Third- of -a Century award from the New London Service Organization. 

Her husband of 60 years, Laurids T. “Bud” Lauridsen, Jr., died in 2005.  She is survived by a daughter, Lauranne J. Lauridsen of New London; a son, Laurids T. “Pete” Lauridsen III (Heidi) of New London; three granddaughters: E. Ashley Seybold, Molly T. Lauridsen (Jason Michaelides), and Sarah H. Lauridsen (Eric Morgan), and three great grandchildren:  Agnes, Laurids, and Ernest. She is also survived by numerous close friends with whom she shared many interests.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in  New London on April 1, 2023 at 1 PM.  Burial will be in Old Main Street Cemetery, New London at a later date.
