Andover Community Church News for May

By Reverend Bill Bloomquist

It is so nice seeing great weather again, buds on the trees. Love the saying April showers bring May flowers, love the smell, too!

April was a busy month. Our Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday services were very meaningful and well-attended. On Easter Sunday, we observed the sunrise on Taunton Hill (24 degrees – brr) and had a wonderfully warm breakfast provided by many of the church members. After the community kids found the 200+ eggs in the egg hunt, we had a record breaking Celebration of Resurrection with the flowering of the cross. It was quite the Holy Week!

We would like to thank everyone who dropped off food at the church for the Twin Rivers Food Pantry. Further donations can be placed on the Grange Hall porch, or in the church Sunday mornings. Everything is greatly appreciated.

Here are a few of events on the May horizon welcomed to all:

• The Andover Coffeehouse continues on the third Friday of the month, with all food proceeds going to refurbishing the Grange Hall.
• A new adult/discussion class begins called, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. It runs for eight weeks.
• Community Rummage Sales with pre-made meals begin Saturday, May 27, and continue on the last Saturday of each month thru October. Hours are 9 AM – 1 PM. We are currently in need of children’s clothing. Stop in to see us and say “hello.”
• May’s “Mission of the Month” is the Aspire Women’s Center, Laconia. In this creative fundraiser we give out baby bottles and fill them with loose change between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. If you would like to see just what the center does, visit their website: aspirelaconia.org.
• And we’re gearing up for Franklin Community Day on Saturday, May 13, at Odell Park.

We are very happy to say we are in the process of getting estimates on redoing the floor in the Grange Hall and thank everyone who supports all our fundraisers, including the coffeehouse. We have a long road ahead of us. With support, we will get there thanks to everyone.

Remember the Grange Hall is available for renting for wedding receptions, birthday parties, family reunions, and private gatherings. If interested call, text, or email: craftydonna@nullmetrocast.net; cell phone 603 393-5470, or home 603 744-6858.

Sunday Services are always zoomed (but better in person). All are welcome. Find out more at: andovercommunitynh.org. Have a marvelous spring!
