Local butterfly expert Amy Highstrom will present “Butterflies Count!” on Wednesday, May 24, 7 PM, at The Andover Community Hub. This program is open to the public free of charge and refreshments will be served.
While monarch butterflies may be easy for many to recognize, other New Hampshire varieties may not be so familiar. Residents are invited to attend this presentation to learn about which butterflies live and visit here, why some gardens attract more butterflies than others, and how volunteers are supporting a statewide butterfly initiative of New Hampshire Fish and Game to track how these populations are changing as our climate changes.
Highstrom will discuss the inaugural 2022 New Hampshire butterfly count results, how to plan a garden that supports local butterflies, the goals of the statewide study of current populations, and how citizen science volunteers can help count and identify butterflies across the state.
