Firefighter Recognizes Past Members with Flags Placed on Graves

Volunteers helped to identify former members

By Meghan Barton
Andover Firefighter Jeff Miller placed flags on graves of former Emergency Service workers, honoring them on Memorial Day 2023.

On Memorial Day, Firefighter Jeff Miller recognized past members of the Andover Emergency Services by placing fire department flags on their graves in our Andover and East Andover cemeteries.

FF Miller started his research by asking community members, as well as by searching old documents, to find former members of the Andover Fire Department, East Andover Fire Department, and Andover EMS who were buried in our cemeteries. With the help of Mark Thompson, Nancy Rondeau, John McDonald, Steve Smith, Lloyd Perrault, Sherie Miller, and Paul Barton, members were identified and recognized for their time serving our community. In three cemeteries, approximately 50 flags were placed on the graves by FF Miller.

If you or your loved ones might know of a member who may have been missed in our Memorial Day recognition, please send us a private message or contact FF Jeff Miller.

Thank you Firefighter Miller for taking time out of your day to honor such important people who have served this town.
