The National Association of Realtors® Good Neighbor Award recognizes Realtors® who have made an extraordinary impact on their community through volunteer work. This program was launched in 2000 and winners receive grants of up to $10,000 for their charity of choice. Locally, the Sunapee Region Board of Realtors® began recognizing their own Realtors® for their community efforts just two years ago and awarded $500 to the winning Realtor®.
This year’s award goes to Ty Morris of Coldwell Banker Lifestyles! Here is an excerpt from Committee Co-chair Anne-Marie Appel’s nominee speech regarding Ty:
“This Realtor® has volunteered hundreds of hours of service to their community, with at least five different organizations receiving the benefit of their time and enthusiasm. The work that this volunteer does includes organizing a townwide Earth Day celebration the past four years, cooking for multiple fundraising events in several towns, organizing a Stuff-a-Truck event to raise money and collect food for local food pantries, and creating an Easter egg hunt, including baskets, for hospitalized children.
“This quote from a letter from the Executive Director of David’s House shows the impact this Realtor® has had to just one family: ‘Please tell whoever set up the Easter egg hunt that they have no idea how much of a blessing it was to my son, that he got to enjoy a normal holiday activity when everything else in his world was far from normal.’ . . .”
The Andover Community Hub is grateful for the Sunapee Region Board of Realtors commitment to their communities and through this award, they continue to encourage their members to spread kindness and generosity through our communities. We are also grateful to Ty for his volunteer efforts and choosing the community kitchen as the beneficiary of this wonderful donation.
