Garden Club Calls on Andover Residents to Think Halloween

Scarecrow/pumpkinhead All Around Town Extravaganza

The Andover Garden Club got together and had lots of laughs putting together arrangements of donated flowers from members for The Andover Community Hub’s fundraiser on July 30. Thanks to the tireless efforts of a few special Andover residents, it’s time again to start planning for the Fifth Annual Scarecrow and Pumpkinhead All Around Town Extravaganza. The winning prize may be 1,000 doll hairs (definitely not $1,000). Truly, the only prize will be the accolades that your friends and neighbors bestow on you for creating an amazing display.

This sounds like fun, but how can I make a scarecrow/pumpkinhead display that would stop Martha Stewart in her tracks? Easy peasy. Come to the Andover Garden Club workshop on September 30 at The Andover Community Hub and we will show you how. We’ll have some supplies available, and you can bring your ideas and crafts to supplement.

What’s the theme? Whatever you think will win you those “doll hairs.” Barbie and Ken? Sure. Apples and pumpkins, totally appropriate. There are many options available.

We need this contest to go viral, but not like Covid, so come on, people. Get those thinking caps on, and register with AndoverNHGardenClub@nullgmail.com to come to The Hub for a kick start; or rummage through your closet for a couple of scarecrow outfits that will be the envy of East Andover, the desire of the Depot, or the pride of Proctor.
