The Legislature is fairly quiet at this time of year except for the filing period for the LSRs (Legislative Service Requests) made by Legislatures which will become bills and will go through a process in the Legislature. This link tells: How a Bill Becomes a Law in New Hampshire www4.des.state.nh.us/blogs/rivers/wp-content/uploads/How-a-Bill-Becomes-a-Law.pdf. I have filed a couple of bills and will give more information about them next month.
Inflation is still with us. The price of food, housing, gas for our cars, and heating fuels for winter warmth are on the rise again. The credit card debt balance is $1.031 trillion in the second quarter of 2023 which is a record high. This is the highest total credit card debt since the New York Federal Reserve started tracking in 1999.
Are you better off than you were four years ago? Is our country in a better place than we were four years ago?
We have been inundated with millions of immigrants with our open border policies. Across this country they are living in the streets, in gyms, hotels, schools, and oversized tents. And many think this does not touch us here in New Hampshire.
Yet illegal immigrants are coming over our northern border into New Hampshire. What is it going to take to get our borders closed? The influx of millions of immigrants is not sustainable.
On occasion if a person has a difference of opinion on certain subjects then someone like myself is called a bigot and a racist. I am not a bigot nor am I a racist just because I have a difference of opinion. Let me explain.
I believe and have no intentions of changing my mind that biological males should not be allowed to participate in biological female sports. Using my common sense, it’s not fair and just as a biological male is stronger than a biological female. Always has been this way and will always be this way. End of story.
There are a number of people I have heard discussing democracy. And there are a number of different types of democracies. The United States is not a true democracy.
Rather we are known as a representative democracy which means our government is elected by citizens, and the citizens vote for their government officials. The officials represent the citizens. Then comes the question: is the US a democracy or a republic?
On looking up a republic it states, “While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic. What does this mean? ‘Constitutional’ refers to the fact that government in the United States is based on a Constitution which is the supreme law of the United States.”
Wishing everyone a great October. If I can be of help in any way please let me know: Representative Louise Andrus, 406 Raccoon Hill Rd, Salisbury 03268, 603 648-2510, l.a.andrus21@nullgmail.com.
