The Andover Democratic Committee will host investigative journalist Matthew Hongoltz-Hetling, author of A Libertarian Walks into a Bear, at 7 PM, on Monday, November 13, at The Andover Community Hub. Mr. Hongoltz-Hetling will speak about his 2020 book, which, in his words, tells the “strange-but-true story of Grafton, New Hampshire, a small town that became the nexus of a collision between bears, libertarians, guns, doughnuts, parasites, firecrackers, taxes and one angry llama.”
Hongoltz-Hetling became interested in Grafton after stories about the town and its local bears made national news. Libertarians associated with the Free State Project had begun flocking there with the goal of reducing the small town’s already tiny government, in keeping with their belief that people are better off living under no government at all.
Following Hongoltz-Hetling’s talk, there will be an opportunity for discussion and questions. Copies of his book will also be for sale. All area residents are welcome and refreshments will be served.
The Hub is located at 157 Main Street and is an accessible building open to all. For further information about this program, contact AndoverNHDemocrats@nullgmail.com. For information about The Hub and its events, contact TheAndoverHub@nullgmail.com or visit its website, www.andoverhub.org.
