Louise Andrus’s View from Concord – November

By Louise Andrus

May the Christmas Season bring only happiness and joy to you and your family. Let us look forward to a more prosperous 2024.

On January 3 and January 4, 2024, the New Hampshire House will be in session, and we hold open the possibility of January 11, if needed. There were about 200 bills that were retained in 2023. This meant that House members were on a committee. A Committee hearing or several hearings would be held on a retained bill, and in the end, a recommendation would be brought back to the full committee, and in an executive session, the full committee would vote on what to do with the bill and send it to the full House.

There are about 800 new bills for the 2024 House to process in committees with hearings, and then a recommendation for the bill to the full House. It will be an interesting year.

I am a prime sponsor of 2 bills:
LSR Number: 24-2414  relative to women’s school sports
LSR Number: 24-2727 relative to requiring a reconciliation of votes cast and undervotes with the total of ballots cast.

I am a co-sponsor for 5 bills:
LSR Number: 24-2174 relative to criminalizing the enticement and manipulation of minors to engage in sexual activity
LSR Number: 24-2292 : relative to requiring parental notification of student health or well-being and certain curricula by school districts.
LSR Number: 24-2387  relative to school employee and designated school volunteer criminal history records checks.
LSR Number: 24-2534 relative to authorizing parents of special education children to observe in the classroom setting.
LSR Number: 24-2621 relative to social-emotional learning in public schools.

If I can be of help in any way, please let me know.
