December Library Events

All library events are free and open to all. Donations towards program costs are accepted. We use the abbreviations APL (Andover Public Library) and WABL (W.A. Bachelder Library) to note the event’s location.

Build a Bird Feeder

Thursday, 12/7 from 2-7 at APL and Friday, 12/8 from 9-1 at WABL

You bring the ideas and we’ll bring the supplies for you to invent your own bird feeder! We will also have the directions for bird seed ornaments to hang up in the forests and on our town’s Christmas tree.

“Read What You Want” Silent Book Club and Cookie Swap

Wednesday, 12/13 at 7 pm at APL

Bring whatever you’re currently reading and an appetite for yummy snacks. We’ll read for 30 minutes, eat, and participate in some bookish discussion. Afterwards, the members would like to have a cookie swap, so feel free to bring some cookies to share.

Story Time (and Cookies) with a Snowman

Wednesday, 12/27 at 10 am at APL

Have you ever heard a snowman read a story? Now’s your chance! We’ll listen to some books and then decorate snowman cookies. If you have an allergy or dietary need, please contact the library ahead of time so we can accommodate you.

Family Bingo Night

Thursday, 12/28 at 6 pm at APL

Whether you are 5 or 85, you are going to love this Bingo game! The winner of each round will get to choose a prize from the prize table, which will have books, gift cards, snacks, and more. Bring the whole family for a fun evening together.

Playdough Party

Friday, 12/29 from 9am-1pm at WABL

I bet you’ve never seen playdough like this! We’ll have sparkly, scented, and magical playdoughs to play with and a variety of fun tools to use. What will you make?

2023 Reading Ornaments

Saturday 12/30 from 9am-1pm at APL

Commemorate the year with an ornament filled with all the books you read! Using stickers and craft foam, we’ll create mini versions of each book and place them in a plastic ornament. These are great to display in your home all year. Please send your book list to the librarian at least one week ahead so we can have your stickers prepared. It will take approximately one hour to complete your ornament, but we’ll have friends and music to help the time pass quickly. If you can make a $5 donation towards supplies, we appreciate it, but it is not required.
