New Andover Community Chess Club Launches in February

Open to everyone; February 12; 6 to 8 PM

Press release

Calling all chess enthusiasts, novices, and skilled players alike! The Andover Community Hub is pleased to announce the launch of the Andover Community Chess Club — a time and place for chess lovers of all ages and skill levels to enjoy playing their favorite game. The club will launch on Monday, February 12, 6 to 8 PM, and continue as a weekly opportunity to learn and play chess with others.

The Chess Club is open to everyone, from beginners to seasoned players, and is the perfect opportunity to sharpen skills and have fun doing it. Sessions will follow a format of learning a new chess skill, practicing it in friendly matches, and then enjoying free play.

The club’s coordinator is Salisbury resident Paula Gallion and anyone interested in knowing more is welcome to contact her at paula.gallion@nullgmail.com. She’s also on the lookout for a chess coach to guide and inspire those who come to play. If you’re a chess aficionado willing to share your knowledge, Paula would like to hear from you.

In the meantime, the club will kick off with brief lessons from chess.com to learn new skills and strategies together. The Chess Club is free for all, although small donations are welcome and much appreciated by The Hub, in helping to keep the heat and lights on. Such donations ensure the continued availability of community initiatives like the Chess Club.

The Hub is located at 157 Main Street, Andover, and is fully accessible. For more information about The Hub or to be added to the ongoing email list, contact theandoverhub@nullgmail.com or leave a message at 603 735-5509.
