The Andover Energy Group invites area residents of all ages to a showing of the 2008 award-
winning animated Walt Disney movie WALL-E on Wednesday, February 28, 6 PM, at The Andover Community Hub.
Featuring a solitary robot named WALL-E and his efforts to clean up the earth when humans have been evacuated to stations in space, the movie appeals to all ages and is appropriate for kids age 5 and older. The movie will be shown free of charge and popcorn will be served.
Considered one of the best animated films ever made, WALL-E has been interpreted as
tackling tough issues, such as rampant consumerism, corporate greed, and environmental
neglect, but it does so with a light touch and viewers can choose to ignore the messages while enjoying the story. The story follows WALL-E as he struggles to clean up the trash that
threatens to overwhelm the planet in the year 2805 and what happens after he finds a green
seedling alive amid the garbage.
Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times named WALL-E “ an enthralling animated film, a visual wonderment, and a decent science-fiction story that appeals to both adults and children.”
